The Tribe of Ephraim.[a] The allotment for the descendants of Joseph ran from the Jordan by Jericho, east of the waters of Jericho, and ran up into the hill country of Bethel. It went from Bethel (that is, Luz) over to the boundary of the Arkites in Ataroth. It then descended westward to the territory of the Japhletites up to the territory of lower Beth-horon and on to Gezer, ending at the sea.
